About the Dresden Scholars' Scheme

The Dresden Scholars' Scheme, launched in 2000, was inspired by the Dresden Trust's work for Anglo-German reconciliation.

The Scheme is designed to enable boys and girls from schools in Dresden and elsewhere in Saxony to attend British independent schools at greatly reduced fees. It is estimated that well over 250 boys and girls from Saxony have attended schools in England, Wales and Scotland under the Scheme. Many of them come for a whole year (and some have even stayed for two years); a few come for one or two terms.

In most cases the schools reduce their fees by 50 per cent to enable the German pupils - who are generally very popular recruits in British schools - to come to the UK. At present 20 independent senior schools are offering more than 40 places; all except one have boarding as well as day pupils and so the Dresden Scholars are fully residential. Applicants are asked to write (preferably in English) explaining why they would like to be considered for a Dresden Scholars' place at the school and to send a recent report from their school in Saxony and a letter from their parents agreeing to pay the remainder of the school fee.

There is no doubt that the opportunities provided by the Scheme are greatly appreciated by the boys and girls from Saxony and that the British schools and their pupils also benefit from their presence.

How to Apply

Das Dresden Trust Scholars' Scheme bietet Schülern aus Sachsen bis zum Alter von 19 Jahren die Möglichkeit, bis zu einem Jahr auf eine Privatschule in Großbritannien zu gehen.
Durch das Dresden Trust Scholar's Scheme werden die Gebühren stark ermäß.
Wenden Sie sich bitte direkt an den Direktor der Schule, für die Sie sich interessieren.
Die Schulliste ist unten zu finden.

Die Bewerbung muss folgende Unterlagen beinhalten:

Einseitiges (A4) Motivationsschreiben (auf englisch), worin Sie erklären warum Ihnen der Platz angeboten werden soll.
Aktuellstes Schulzeugnis
Schreiben der Eltern, die restlichen Gebühren zu übernehmen.
Die Schulen wählen die Schüler selbstständig unter allen Bewerbungen aus.
Bestätigen Sie bitte umgehend, nachdem Sie von einer Schule angenommen worden sind, ob Sie das Angebot annehmen oder nicht. Wenn Sie sich bei mehreren Schulen beworben haben, sagen Sie denen bitte Bescheid, dass Sie schon einen Platz an einer anderen Schule bekommen haben.
Ausser der St Edward's School sind alle Schulen Internate.
Unterkunft und Verpflegung sind in den Gebühren enthalten.
Die St Edward's School ist eine Dayschool, das heißt die Schüler werden bei einer Gastfamilie wohnen.
Die Gebühren sind für das Schuljahr 2011/12 und werden jedes Jahr ansteigen.
Wenn mehrere Gebühren angegeben sind, ist der kleinere Betrag normalerweise für jüngere Schüler und der größere für ältere Schüler.
